PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE

Dear School Community,

Activities during the past weeks

Term 3 has been a very vigorous term with many activities, incursions and excursions. On August 10th, our Gr3 students, Mohamad Al Salem and Sukaina Rafiee, and Gr5 students, Raihaan Syed, Qunoot Shaikh and Mariam El-Haouli, represented our school in the inter-campus Spelling Bee and Integrated Studies competitions. I would like to congratulate the participating students and their teachers, Mrs Tarbinder Pandher and Miss Funda Avan for their effort and hard work.

Our campus held many exciting events during the Science and Literacy/Numeracy week. On August 25th, in order to support the cancer patients in Australia, we organised different activities and raised more than $270 during the Daffodil Day initiated by the Cancer Council.

Naplan results 2017

Naplan results are out now and they have been posted to you. These results provide us with another set of data which shows the academic strengths and weaknesses of each child. Please analyse the data with your child and feel free to come and discuss the results with the homeroom teacher if necessary. As a school, we also analyse the results thoroughly and this data helps us shape our future and we plan accordingly.

Upcoming events

We would like to celebrate Father’s Day with our parents on September 6th. We will start our program with light snacks and play some fun games afterwards. Please join with us to celebrate Father’s Day. The students look forward to seeing their dad at school so we are encouraging as many dads as possible to come along.

Parent Teacher Interviews will take place in the last week of the Term 3 from September 18th to 22nd and the online bookings will be made available soon.

Closure of senior section

I wish to inform you that it is the view of the headquarters in Melbourne that due to the very low numbers of prospective senior students, there is no other option, other than closing the senior section (secondary only) of our school. This means, we are not able to offer secondary classes for 2018 and in the future. This is not an easy decision for me, my staff, or for your child especially if they are currently in Years 6, 7 and 8. But this is the decision that needs to be made.

We, here at the Shepparton campus, are dedicated to maintaining our primary classes with a strong partnership with parents in an effort to provide the very best education for our primary students. In general, enrolments to the primary section, especially to the Foundation/Prep class, are satisfactory and have been for the past few years. If you have a child of kindergarten age, you may start the process of enrolment for the upcoming year, 2018. From next year onwards, we will put our energy and attention into further improving our services, resources and facilities for the primary school. I take this opportunity to express my appreciation for your ongoing support as we continue to work with your child to accommodate his/her future educational needs.

I would like to wish you a ‘Happy Eid’ and look forward to seeing you all at the school concert at the Eastbank Centre on Thursday, September 14th.

Yours sincerely,

Mr. Adem Engin
Principal
